Our beautiful Alfie was our first ever dog. He was a beautiful boy but was also very, very wary of being handled.

Vet and groomer visits were a nightmare until we were recommended to go and see Alex.

From the very beginning, Alex created a connection with Alfie. He would get down on the floor with him and talk to him. I feel sure Alfie understood everything that Alex was telling him and trusted him completely to do whatever was necessary.

Alex gave him the time and space to trust him and this took any stress out of our visits. Unfortunately, at just 5 years old, Alfie became unwell. Initially, it appeared to us that it was just a tummy bug, but Alex knew it was something more serious. When we rang one evening to say he didn’t look right, he said to come straight in and he may need to operate. He was waiting at the door as we arrived and gently took him from our arms. He reassured us that he would do whatever he could tohelp him.

I will never forget the look of complete trust in Alfie’s eyes as we left him with Alex.

Alexstayed with Alfie for the following 4 nights. He would ring every morning with an update of Alfie and how Alfie had wandered around the practice in the early hours and tried every bed until he found one to hissatisfaction .

Sadly, Alfie’s condition deteriorated and Alex called us to say we needed to come in. Our boy was very poorly and it was clear that there was only one decision to be made. Throughout this visit Alex was an amazing support to my husband and I and when the time came, he was there to help our boy to a pain-free life. We were all in tears but, most importantly, Alfie was no longer in pain.

Alex, we will never forget your care and compassion to us all during this time. You truly went above and beyond for us.

We also want to thank you for your continued support and advice in the care of Matilda and Harry.

You are a very, very special person and we hope that you are back doing what you do best very soon!
